There is no doubt....

about it....I have been a VERY bad blogger.....
Sometimes I think if I don't have something scrappy to share or a topic to cover then it paralizes me when it comes to updating the ol' blog....So, I'm sorry for this weird way of thinking and don't tell Jon but for Christmas I'm asking for a webcam....
I know, I know I'm way behind the curve on this one, but there are so many things I want to share with you awesome ladies....
So, hopefully with the new year will come recorded techniques or something like that....Keep your fingers crossed with me....

As a special "Thank You" for continuing to visit me and for leaving wonderful comments a very talented friend of mine agreed to let me give away an upcoming classes of hers....Karen will be teaching a minibook class over at nycscraps.com
and you know me I have always had a warm fuzzy place in my heart for minibooks....

So, here is the information regarding Karen's Class and how the giveaway works....

In this class, we will focus on what I call "formulaic" mini books. Don't think of the word "formula" like the stuff you learned in math or chemistry class (unless, of course, you LOVED math and chemistry)! And definitely don't think of it as boring!!! Think of it as a basic template that underlies the structure of your mini books to create consistency across all the pages. Not only is this easy to create, the end result is simply beautiful! These books can be put together quickly, giving you more time to embellish each page and add personal touches along the way.

For this class, we will create 4 mini books that revolve around and "end of the year" theme: reflecting on 2008, looking forward to 2009, and shining a spotlight on the holiday season to come. We will be creating four quick, beautiful mini books in our two weeks together (for greater detail on the projects, download the sample handout, linked below). Our projects will be interesting, meaningful, creative, and a lot of fun. Each project will be unique and can be customized to be a gift for family and friends or as a keepsake for yourself!

If you're a lover of mini books or have never completed one, this is the class for you. If you want to give your loved ones personal, meaningful holiday presents, this is the class for you. If you just want to have a great time and complete some beautiful books in the process, this is the class for you. Come, join us, I promise you will love every minute of it.

Here's a sample pdf with a lot more information about the class and supplies: click me
Here's the full class information: click me

So now let's talk about the *giveaway*!! Here's how it works:

1. I am going to leave this open until November 1.
2. To be entered into the drawing, leave me a comment on what minibook topics are your favorite, what minibooks would you want to create or the topics you struggle with but think would be great in a minibook format.
3. If you want to be entered more than once, make a post on your blog, tell people to come here, and leave a link to your blog in their comments. If you do that, their name AND your name will be entered (so now your name will be there _twice_). and you can do this one again and again....

I PROMISE I will be back in a couple of days with the specific ingredients for a new minibook I'm putting together.....
AND my own tips for "thinking outside of the box"....
Make sure to leave your comments in this blog entry...I can't wait to hear about the minibooks you think of....
AND you won't want to miss Karen's class!!!!

BIG Hugs to everyone!!!!
Dedra.

Thanks for the giveaway!

I do a lot of minis as gifts. they make perfect grandma presents for any reason. I'm working on one right now for my dad's b'day using his old childhood photos.

I just did a set of three mini-albums, one for each of my kids. It was amazing to see how different each one turned out, even though I basically had the same intent when I began each one! Next I want to do one of my hubby.

What a great idea...I love mini books because it's a completed project in a short time...at least it is for me. My favorite mini books are of my girls. A mini book I think I would find difficult would be about me, growing up and about my life...I know my girls would love reading it tho! Maybe some day.
Thanks for the opportunity to be a part of this giveaway.

I LOVE minis. I love the fact that you can start and finish them so much quicker than a larger album. Instant gratification. Love keeping them for my basket... and I love making them as a surprise for people. Fun Fun Fun.

minibooks are quick to make when I don't have the time for layouts. Some are about my daughters, vacations and flowers.

I have been making mini books for my Mother who has Alzheimer's disease. I use different themes about our family and label with each person's name in a way that seems appropriate. This way she can look at them repeatedly because they are easily handled and be reminded who we all are.

My favorite mini-books are about short getaways that my husband and I take.

When I do create mini-books, I have a very difficult time with journaling! I either do a journaled mini-book or a photo mini-book, but I am never able to combine the two! HELP!

I think minibooks about the holidays are a great way to showcase a big event (holidays are huge around here). And they are fabulous brag books for parents and grandparents

I love making mini-albums for the things from my everyday life - just the little details, that will be forgotten not after years, but after months.
